Beachnuts Theatre Company

Beachnuts is the brainchild of Paul Belanger, the director and energy that helps to keep theatre alive for the children in the Tamarindo Area. It began in 2008 at Olga’s coffee shop. Paul had come into town and mentioned that he would like to put on a children’s theatre show and Beachnut’s first production of Cinderella began in 2008. Beachnuts is a community theatre group made up of actors in the area, children from the different schools, and people who enjoy working together to put on a great produciton for the community. Paul could not have done it without all the support from the parents as well as friends and laymen who put in hours building sets, costumes, the band, as well as a host of other responsibilities. Everyone pulls together and Beachnuts has performed some amazing productions. They’ve even taken their show on the road!

Paul has been involved in theatre for over 35 years and has directed 22 shows with Beachnuts Theatre. He found the Cowichan Kids Theatre Company and worked for Red Room Studio preparing children for professional theatre. Paul has acted, directed and performed in over 100 productions over the last thirty five years and has even taught children’s theatre in Europe. He is excited to be directing his latest show, Beauty and The Beast.
